Using Constructed Floating Wetlands to Remove Nutrients from a Waste Stabilization Pond

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study reports the biomass accumulation, plant nutrient concentration, and uptake rates of plants in a constructed floating wetland (CFW) installed for sewage treatment application Australia. Plant accumulation was estimated based on field samplings throughout duration study. Analysis samples each species also completed to estimate mean tissue content. The concentration were then used total species. Each found differ distribution nutrients between shoots roots. varied species, with B. articulata having greatest (shoots: N, 104 ± 31.5 g/m2, P, 12.9 3.87 g/m2; roots: 23.9 7.23 5.54 1.67 g/m2). Harvesting four CFW islands after 375 days growth removed an 23.2 kg N 2.97 P. results this indicate that use CFWs carefully selected can successfully remove significant amounts from domestic wastewater.

Apatite as an interesting seed to remove phosphorus from wastewater in constructed wetlands.

Intensive use of phosphates has resulted in high P levels in surface waters and therefore eutrophication problems. Over the last decade many studies have revealed the advantage of using specific materials with efficient phosphorus retention capacities. Recent studies state that Ca materials are of particular interest for long-term retention of P, but can induce negative effects. To improve P re...

Waste Stabilization Ponds for Waste Water Treatment, Anaerobic Pond

Waste stabilization ponds (WSP) have been used world-wide over the last 50 years for municipal and industrial wastewater. The waste water treatment system has been accepted and used to change the physical, chemical, or biological character of the waste. This article presents the characteristics, parameters, and examples of the waste stabilization ponds all over the world. This work was based on...

Removal of nutrients in various types of constructed wetlands.

The processes that affect removal and retention of nitrogen during wastewater treatment in constructed wetlands (CWs) are manifold and include NH(3) volatilization, nitrification, denitrification, nitrogen fixation, plant and microbial uptake, mineralization (ammonification), nitrate reduction to ammonium (nitrate-ammonification), anaerobic ammonia oxidation (ANAMMOX), fragmentation, sorption, ...

Removal of nutrients from septic tank effluent with baffle subsurface-flow constructed wetlands.

Three new baffle flow constructed wetlands (CWs), namely the baffle horizontal flow CW (Z1), baffle vertical flow CW (Z2) and baffle hybrid flow CW (Z3), along with one traditional horizontal subsurface flow CW (Z4) were designed to test the removal efficiency of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from the septic tank effluent under varying hydraulic retention times (HRTs). Results showed that the...
